Aylesbury Utd vs Willand Rovers FC
Match Report
Any so our foray in the FA Cup comes to an end for another year after a disappointing display in Buckinghamshire.
Willand never really going in this match with the host applying pressure right from the off. A defensive mix up in defending a corner in the third minute gifted Aylesbury their first goal.
The half continued with Aylesbury outplaying the visitors for the first 30 minutes with only poor finishing & a string of fine saves by George Burton keeping the score at 1-0.
The final 15 minutes of the half saw Willand gaining some composure and creating a few scoring chances. On the stroke of half time Mani Skett managed to drive in an equaliser after a free kick was floated over the crowded penalty area to Mani who volleyed home. HT 1-1.
The second half started fairly even, but on 60 minutes Will Richards was penalised for a push in the back on an Aylesbury attacker: penalty to the hosts. This was calmly dispatched: 2-1.
Willand continued to apply pressure to try to get the equaliser & on 75 minutes a break down the left by Richards resulted in a glorious cross to Louis Jagger-Cane that just needed a touch to hit the back of the open goal … but somehow LJC missed the ball completely. Golden chance gone!
Aylesbury immediately broke away and scored their third on the counter: 3-1. This effectively sealed the tie.
The fourth goal for the hosts was a beauty: substitute Anthonio-Forde picked up the ball in midfield, made a surging running into the Willand box before blasting an unstoppable shot into the top corner. 4-1.
Bring on the FA Trophy!
