Arsenal start their European campaign

Bernd Leno gifted Rapid Vienna their first goal and at times seemed determined to lose the match. He was so bad I called for the return of Emiliano Martinez but it is too late now. Martinez will help Aston Villa to the top half of the Premier League table.

Fortunately David Luiz equalised for the gunners and the two substitutes Hector Bellerin and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang combined to give our best player a simple tap in for the winner.

So we are off to a winning start and this match on paper was our most difficult fixture. In theory winning this one means that we should win ALL of our group matches which will put us in a good position to get as far as possible in this competition.

In the other match in this group Dundalk took the lead against the Norwegian team Molde but the Norwegians scored twice to take the win in their first match of the campaign. It seems that we have it easy particularly if we start playing at the level which Mikel Arteta expects.
