Bath City = Multiple Updates

 From the Bath City website:

City enjoy comfortable County Cup win

City eased into the last eight of the Somerset Premier Cup with a 3-0 victory over Portishead Town at Twerton Park this evening. Cody Cooke had already seen a header hit the bar before Eddie Jones’ 8th minute cross was nodded home by Alex Fletcher. Moments later Ryan Clarke had to be alert to keep out a shot at his near post but this turned out to be his only moment of concern in the game. The Western League Division 1 side defended manfully, producing a number of last ditch blocks to keep City out, but on 37 minutes they couldn’t prevent Cooke making it 2-0 with a well-struck shot. The second half was even more one-sided as Fletcher twice saw efforts come back off the post before the hour mark and a number of other chances flash wide of the goal. However, on 75 minutes City finally struck again when Tom Smith, who had already been denied several times by keeper Shanks-Boon, found the net with a low shot from the edge of the box. City played out the final ten minutes with ten men, Jordan Dyer limping off after they’d made all their substitutions, but they still created several more openings, the best seeing Fletcher volley Omar Holness’ cross over the bar from just a few yards out.

City suffer defeat at Dulwich Hamlet

City suffered a disappointing afternoon in South London today, losing by three goals to nil to Dulwich Hamlet. The hosts got off to a perfect start when Taylor headed home an 8th minute corner. Buoyed by this opening Dulwich continued to enjoy the better of the game and could have been further ahead by the interval but for several smart stops from Ryan Clarke. City’s best chance before the break saw Tom Smith difficult half-volley fail to trouble keeper Grainger. Six minutes into the second half Dulwich increased their lead, McGregor feeding Green to shoot past Clarke from 10 yards. Alex Fletcher had two sights of goal after this, firing over the bar then straight at Grainger, but on 69 minutes McQueen’s close range finish made the game safe for the home side.
