Bristol Manor Farm FC vs Willand Rovers FC
Match Report
Another disappointing day at the office as Rovers lose 2-0 away at promotion chasing Bristol Manor Farm.
As in other recent games Willand played some attractive approach football, but did just not create enough chances in the final third & are not being clinical to convert the opportunities they create!
A goal either side of half time was the undoing of the visitors. BMF’s Jake Gosling scored on 43 minutes after a quick counter attack, with a mis-hit shot that somehow slid under George Burton, and a fortunate lob over Burton by Kye Simpson on 52 minutes saw the hosts home.
The first half, with Rovers playing down the hill against a gale force wind blowing from one end of the pitch to the other, was a scrappy affair with Willand possibly edging the game until Gosling scored on 43 minutes. Rovers pressed well but with little cutting edge up front. Ht 1-0.
Willand came out for the second half & again played well to pressure their hosts. As the match went on Manor Farm, now playing down the slope, started to take more control of the game. Their attacking threat became more evident as the half went on and although they increased their lead on 52 they could not add further. Rovers’ stout defending & a number of fine saves by Burton kept the score at 2-0.
Another disappointing day for Rovers who now set their sights on the local derby with Barnstaple Town next Saturday, 3pm at Silver Street.
