MATCH REPORT: IPSWICH TOWN (A)

Ipswich Town 1 - 0 Bridgwater United

Bridgwater United suffered a defeat in the top of table clash after a late winner in the last few minutes for Ipswich.

Jamie Harris made no changes to the starting eleven from the game against Portsmouth. Carter made her way onto the bench alongside Hinchcliffe, Holden, Dudley-Jones and Banfield.

In the early stages of the game United looked positive and were seeing a lot of the ball. A few chances came here and there but Ipswich’s defence prevented Bridgwater from creating many opportunities.

Throughout periods in the first half Bridgwater’s defence were tested. Both Llewellyn and Goddard did well to hold players off the ball.

It was a let off just before half time as an Ipswich player was able to find space but fortunately she wasn’t able to execute her shot. At half time it was goalless but Bridgwater were causing Ipswich problems and it showed their intent.

Both teams had chances in the second half. Beth Howard did well to deny the home team when needed.

Jasmine Turner and Ellie Strippel did well on the left hand side to try and create chances. Strippel used her skill to get round players and try to get balls in.

Towards the end of the game it looked as though both teams were going to come away with a point. However Ipswich won a corner and it was headed into the back of the net giving them a late winner.

Bridgwater had a shot from distance in the last minute of additional time however it was fired straight at the Ipswich goalkeeper.
