Bridgwater United Women 9 Keynsham 0

MATCH REPORT: KEYNSHAM TOWN (H)

Bridgwater United 9 - 0 Keynsham Town

Bridgwater United managed to put 9 away against Keynsham after a dominant team performance and a great second half save from Beth Howard to keep a clean sheet.

Jamie Sherwood made three changes for the midweek fixture. Charlotte Buxton and Chloe Gilroy came back into the side and Sydney Hinchcliffe made her first league start of the season.

As soon as the game kicked off United seemed hungry for goals! Early on there was a close chance as Jackson made a good run down the right hand side and sent the ball in but Hinchcliffe couldn’t get onto the end of it. A couple of minutes later and there were multiple shouts for a penalty after Griffiths was brought down in the box, but the referee waved play on.

It didn’t take Sydney Hinchcliffe too long to find the back of the net however. On the fourteenth minute Burridge sent a ball through to Hinchcliffe who made no mistake slotting it pas the keeper.

The lead was doubled six minutes later when Poppy Wilson got her first goal of the evening. Alice Griffiths also joined Wilson on the score sheet later in the half.

Just before half time Bridgwater made a quick attack which eventually found captain Bow Jackson and she got United’s fourth.

Bridgwater certainly didn’t hold back in the second half! Amy Goddard got herself a goal however there was a slight delay in the celebration as there was some confusion as to whether the goal had been given or not.

Wilson managed to grab her second goal of the night and Chloe Gilroy’s effort found the back of the net.

There were smiles all round when on the 72nd minute Jasmine Turner scored her first goal in a United shirt! Her goal was followed by a brilliant effort from Laura Holden who took a long range shot which went over the top of the keeper; a perfect end to the night!

Turner shared her thoughts post match: “I think it was really good. I think we didn’t stop and kept playing our game. It was good for us to get some confidence back and it’s good to see the patterns come out that we’ve been practicing.”
