Steps 5&6 (Levels 9&10) are First to Start

So after two matches there are three teams in the Western League Premier Division with maximum points.

Shepton Mallet head Buckland Athletic & Keynsham Town on goal difference with a massive PLUS 13 after two matches. Six points is the best possible start to a season.

My selection, Exmouth Town, are in the chasing pack on four points after one win and one draw. We are in fifth place with a goal difference of PLUS 4 after that win at Street, but there is a team in fourth, Helston Athletic, that have a goal difference of PLUS 6.

As the season goes on it will be points rather than goal difference that makes the difference but it is always useful to keep your eye on the back up statistic. Maximise your advantage when you are playing weaker teams and if it is close at the end of the season you may just take the place over a close rival.

Exmouth take on Buckland Athletic in the F.A.Cup Extra Preliminary Round on Saturday.
