So the weekend matches concluded with my top team, Arsenal, failing to score against a Liverpool side that earned a point at the Emirates stadium.
Most of the matches were played on Saturday and do not make good reading. Brentford travelled all the way to Burnley to be beaten 1-0. Southend took on Swindon at home but also lost 1-0. Exeter performed better by drawing 0-0 at home to York City.
In the conference Torquay earned a creditable 2-2 draw away at Grimsby while Weston lost 2-1 at home to Eastbourne Borough. In the Southern League Bideford lost 2-1 away at Leamington and we have to drop to the Southern League South & West before we find a victory. Tiverton Town beat Marlow 2-0 at home.
In the Western League Barnstaple beat Shepton Mallet away with a 2-0 victory, and in the South West Peninsula League Exmouth Town beat Elburton Villa 3-0 at home.
My lower ranked teams saved the day on this occasion but I only earned 12 points out of a possible 30. If I had any competition they would have won hands down.
