Mens Pyramid

I have just updated the pyramid on the right hand side so let us see where we are as we approach the midway point of the season.

Tottenham are currently top of the league and Jose Mourinho is doing what he always does. He moves in for his first season, wins something in his second season and pisses everyone off in his third season. This time he is in charge of Tottenham Hotspur so can his winning mentality overcome the long standing habit of Tottenham "Spursing things up" at some point in the season. Pochettino developed a skillful squad and Mourinho is now using that to "win by whatever means possible". At the weekend Arsenal ran the match but Tottenham won. It is an experience that we are so used to having competed against Manchester United many times in the past.

Liverpool and Chelsea are in hot pursuit which is no surprise. Also there are Leicester and Southampton which is more surprising. At the bottom Sheffield United are already looking down and out. West Bromwich Albion, Burnley and Fulham are the other clubs in the relegation battle but as we know things can change and anyone including Arsenal could drop into the relegation battle if they do not keep wins on the agenda.

Bournemouth and Norwich are at the top of the Championship. My boys Brentford are just inside the playoff places and at the bottom Sheffield Wednesday have almost made up the penalty points but still sit bottom. Derby County and new boys Wycombe Wanderers are the other teams in danger.

Hull City and Lincoln City head up League One. Wigan, Shrewsbury, Burton and Oxford sit in the drop zone and my selection Plymouth are currently in 15th place.

League Two is dominated by the western region. Newport lead Cheltenham and Forest Green with my selection Exeter in the playoff places. There are many teams close to relegation but Southend United, my old home town club, are looking set for a spell outside the Football League.

Southend should be replaced by Torquay United who top the National League at the moment. My own selection Weymouth have started badly and are now firmly in the relegation zone alongside Barnet, Dover and Yeovil.

In the National League South my boys Bath City are now bottom of the league. Dartford City are top.

The Southern League have decided to wait a little longer before resuming play but my boys Tiverton who led for a long time are now second. Dorchester and Beaconsfield are in the relegation zone and I hope the bottom club Merthyr Town remain in this league as they are taking the season off because of the Welsh government who imposed greater restrictions on them than the restrictions applied by Boris "do whatever you want" Johnson on the English clubs.

Cirencester Town are leading the Southern League Division One South with my team Barnstaple held off the bottom only by the presence of Mangotsfield United.

In the Western League Plymouth Parkway are runaway leaders with my boys Exmouth Town in 5th. The well known joke name Chipping Sodbury Town are currently sitting at the bottom.

In the Devon League at the base of the recognised pyramid and therefore under the control of the still racist Football Association Millbrook and Torpoint Athletic are at the top of the table, my boys Bovey Tracey have amassed TEN points along with the league record score, while Axminster Town and Stoke Gabriel sit in the relegation places. At this level teams are very often reprieved from relegation but it is not advisable to sit in a place where you can be ejected downwards.

My basement teams who sit below the pyramid are now in 3rd, 2nd, 1st and 6th place respectively.
