Exmouth took on Tiverton as a warm up for when real football begins again in earnest.
This report is from the East Devon News :
Exmouth Town FC beaten 6-2 by Tiverton in friendly watched by crowd of 132 at Southern Road
There was an excellent turnout of 132 at Southern Road to see Exmouth Town FC’s friendly match against Tiverton Town – a contest that the visitors won 6-2.
The scoreline does reflect the difference between the teams, for the Southern League Premier South high-fliers were by far the better side, particularly in a one-sided first half that saw them score five unanswered goals.
It took Tivvy just two minutes to make their presence felt as Jared Lewington opened the scoring.
Ten minutes later Dan Hayfield netted and it was 3-0 on 25 minutes thanks to a goal from Alex Fletcher.
Six minutes before the break, Jordan Lam added his name to the goal-scoring and there was still enough first-half time left for Fletcher to net his second and send the visitors in at the break with a nap hand lead.
After the break, the home side began to enjoy a little more possession and they got a goal back on the hour mark with Mike Humphries the scorer.
With seven minutes remaining, Exmouth Town were awarded a penalty and up stepped Arron Denny to score from the spot.
However, an impressive away side had the final word as Chris Sheppard scored to make it 6-2.
