Derby Day Win Keeps Run Going
The Peacocks made it eight competitive games unbeaten with a 3-1 Southern League victory over Tiverton Town at the Cygnet Health Care Stadium this afternoon.
In front of a fantastic crowd of 1473, the hosts were quickly out the blocks, taking the lead after five minutes when Ollie Chamberlain’s cross found Toby Holmes who drove home into the far corner. The lead was doubled after 21 minutes through Ross Stearn who drilled home at the far post after receiving Jared Lewington’s centre. The Peacocks nearly added a third when a header from Nick Grimes hit the bar before the visitors pulled one back two minutes into the second half with a penalty converted by Louis Morrison after Ioan Richards was adjudged to have fouled Jordan Lam. Town restored their two goal buffer on 58 minutes when Stearn put Chamberlain clear to slot home past Lewis Williams. Tiverton’s attempts to salvage something were unsuccessful although it took a brilliant save from Will Buse to preserve the scoreline as the Peacocks climbed back up to sixth in the table.
