Kent to Southern Counties East

The name change is one of the many necessary changes and it is taking place this summer.

The Kent League has changed its name to the Southern Counties East League. This will allow teams from Sussex and Essex as well as East London to join without having the word "Kent" attached. I know as I was born in Essex that the word Kent did not and will not go down well if you live just outside that county.

Two teams from the Sussex League have been told to join this newly named league for the upcoming season and they are appealing against that decision but I fear that if the appeals are upheld then the F.A. will not be able to restructure the country as it wants to. Time will tell.

If we look back at the changes that have occurred over the years then we will see winners and losers with each and every change but I think overall the changes have been for the benefit of football as a whole.
