Truro City vs Tiverton Town | Match Report | 01/02/22

With the game being delayed by thirty minutes due to a incident on the A38 it was Truro who shot out of the blocks the quickest and with only two minutes on the clock a goalmouth scramble ended with Alfie Pond clearing the ball off the line for Tivvy. But just a minute later and Truro took the lead when a free kick was met by the head of Truro's number four Oliver Tomlinson to put the home side 1-0 up.

A long range effort from Truro number eight Will Dean was saved by Lewis Williams as the home side went looking for their second goal of the night. On sixteen minutes a Tivvy free kick taken by Louis Morison found Nelson Iseguan who put the ball into the box which resulted in a Gary Warren overhead kick going just wide of the Truro goal. The ball was played quickly up field by Truro which caught the Tivvy defence out and it took a point blank save with his face by Williams in the Tivvy goal to keep the ball out. Shane White was booked for a foul on Tiverton's Dan Hayfield and the free kick was put into the box but Andy Watkins saw his shot go just wide of the Truro goal. Another Truro player found his name in the refs book. This time it was Rio Garside who was shown a yellow card for a foul on Gary Warren. A minute later and Truro had another player shown a yellow card this time it was Andrew Neal who found his way into the refs book. A scramble in the Tivvy box nearly resulted in a Truro goal but Tivvy's Gary Warren cleared off his own line to keep them in the game. There was then a nasty clash of heads which left both players down and needing treatment. Tiverton number ten Nelson Iseguan had to be replaced by Austen Booth due to the clash of heads.

There were a couple of half chances after that but the half finished 1-0 to Truro City.

Tiverton got the second half underway and a early chance fell to Austen Booth but his shot was blocked before it could reach the goal. A good Tivvy move involving Joe Belsten, Austen Booth and Andy Watkins was halted at the expense of a corner to Tiverton. The corner found Watkins in the box but his shot was well saved by Hamon in the Truro goal. Tiverton striker Theo Simpson was booked for a late Challenge and he was very quickly joined in the refs book by Louis Morison as Tivvy gave away another free kick. Tiverton were having plenty of the ball but there was no end product when they got into the Truro box.

On seventy minutes a cross into the Tivvy box hit the arm of Louis Morison and the referee pointed to the penalty spot. Gary Warren was shown a yellow card for giving his thoughts on the penalty decision to the ref. Up stepped Andrew Neal who calmly slotted the ball past Williams to put Truro 2-0 up. Tiverton made a couple of changes with Matt Wright and new signing Court Francis coming on to replace Morison and Watkins. With time running out Truro made a couple of substitutions to run down the clock and the game ended with a win for the home side.
Final score Truro 2 Tiverton 0
