📝 REPORT: BRISTOL CITY 4-0 CRYSTAL PALACE
SUNDAY, FEBRUARY 6TH 2022
City Women bounced back with an emphatic 4-0 victory over Crystal Palace at the Robins High Performance Centre.
Two goals from Abi Harrison, a direct corner from Amiee Palmer followed a 45-second opener from Chloe Bull to give the Robins all three points.
🧐 BACKGROUND
City went into the game looking to bounce back from three successive defeats.
Manager Lauren Smith made two changes from the side that lost to Southampton, Naomi Layzell and Chloe Bull replacing Lea Cataldo and Izzy Cook.
✍️ WHAT HAPPENED?
City got on the scoresheet inside the first minute when Davies played the ball to Bull and she finds the back of the net from the edge of the box.
As a mark of intent from the Robins, the goal had the desired effect and with the faithful crowd behind them and their tails up, the second duly followed in the 15th minute.
Mel Johnson played a great ball into the box and Harrison slid in to power the ball past Emily Orman in the Palace goal.
City almost grabbed a third when Harrison’s shot is parried by Orman but Johnson puts the effort from the rebound just wide of the post.
The Robins were on top for the rest of the half with Fran Bentley largely untroubled in the City goal.
⏱ HALF-TIME
The second half saw City with the win at their backs and it paid off in the 54th minute when Palmer swung in a trademark corner which beat everyone including Orman.
The Palace keeper certainly kept the score down with Harrison and Morgan both having efforts saved.
However, Harrison was not to be denied and the striker made no mistake in the 83rd minute when Davies played her in and the Scot fired in on her right foot.
City closed the game out, much to the delight of the 367-strong vocal crowd.
