First Bury, now Sidlesham

You learn by reading.

You learn more about lower league football by reading Twitter and Facebook than you ever would by reading the local or national press.

Sidlesham have withdrawn their first team from the Southern Combination Division One. The reason seems to be that their local council have withdrawn permission for them to use the pitch that they have been using.

I tracked back and it seems that they complained about a local farmer spreading his muck so thickly in the field adjoining the pitch that the health of the players was in danger. Some farmers do have undue influence when it comes to their friends on the council and I hope that  this is not the case here but there must be some reason why permission to use the pitch was withdrawn. The club have wisely declined to comment on the matter.

So ... two clubs down in the top ten levels of English football. I expect there to be more.

Note: Level 11 leagues next.
