Granddaughter

My granddaughter is a delight and along with grandma I have set aside much time to be with her.

The result is that although I do watch much football, including all the world cup matches, I have lost track of many of the other areas I used to keep tabs on.

I may get time after christmas to catch up but I think this blog is suspended until time offers me more of itself. Christmas itself always was a period to get behind. This year I will have no chance. Football has to take a back seat. Maybe I am growing up.

The Midweek Match

The Queen Died

In case you have not heard, the Queen just died.

The result of this is that  the following fixtures will take place this weekend:

I trust that normal service will be resumed midweek.

Midweek Fixtures

Only one midweek fixture for my teams this week:

Friday 2 September 2022

A big test for my favourite Arsenal, heading to Manchester who are a team with new vigour.

Buckland are at home to Barnstaple which has some appeal, but I think I will watch Brentford.

The Midweek Fixtures

This week the midweek fixtures start today (bank holiday Monday).

Mondays are normally reserved for Monday Night Football as the TV moguls pick a premier league game to delay so they can make more money selling the rights around the world. I usually use the day to catch up but I have been caught out and I know some of the results already, however ..... here are the fixtures.

I am glad that Brentford and Arsenal are playing on different nights so I may be able to watch both of those matches. Thomas Frank and his boys have really drawn me in and the loss of Watkins and Benrama has made little difference to the quality of the football. Mbeumo can still miss a host of chances then from nowhere produce a brilliant finish.

Perhaps I should have gone to that Bovey Tracey match after all.

I managed to catch the Brentford and Arsenal matches though, so I had a good afternoon.

Womens Results 21st August

The Womens Leagues have started again. Here are the first few results.

Sunday 21 August 2022

Womens Football

I noticed when I checked the Live Football matches that Bristol City were on the F.A.Player so I checked and the Championship has started along with the National League.

I had better get my spreadsheets into shape even though a lot of the information that I need is not readily available. Bristol City beat Coventry United 1-0 in the Championship and I am now about to settle down to the mens match Newcastle v. Manchester City match after watching Chelsea beat Leeds United 3-0. West Ham lost 2-0 AT HOME to Brighton to get Manchester United off the bottom of the table. It is only by alphabetical order though so Monday night should see them firmly back at the base of the listings.

The Womens Super League starts on 10th and 11th September so I was hoping the other levels were not going to begin until early september but they kicked off today so I must up my game and get the data into spreadsheets ready for what will prove to be a busy season.

Manchester City GOAL. Newcastle 0 Manchester City 1.

I cannot find mention of my local team Liverton United so they may be one of the clubs that have folded after the Covid crisis. I will keep watching as I have seen teams appear on the listings very late in the day. If they have gone then my new local team will be Bovey Tracey. I need them to repair the road between here and there to make the trip a little easier. It is closed for repairs at the moment after a landslide (a real one).

On with the spreadsheets. If I do a quick job you will see one later today.

The Results are in (I watched the Sunday match on TV)

Saturday 20 August 2022

Half Time Check 20th August

This morning @ 12:30

I have two matches now up on screen.

Marlow v. Thame United in the F.A.Cup.

Spurs v. Wolves in the Premier League.

There is much more football after that.

I hope to watch Brentford and I will watch Arsenal.

It could be a good day for a football addict.

Friday 19 August 2022

August and September matches

I have now worked through and checked my fixtures for the rest of this month and next month. There have been a few changes which is what I expected. Most changes are in the Premier League where TV companies change dates as well as times. This does happen in the Championship as well.

Leagues One and Two and the National League tend to be more consistent just inviting the cameras to watch a game at the pre-arranged time and date.

Levels 7 and 8 are similar to the middle leagues and usually take place on the date and at the time specified but when you get down to levels 9,10 and 11 you can find that matches are cancelled at short notice and they can be rearranged without too much notice so you have to be in with the crowd to learn of these changes. Football fans only follow one team in the main so it is only a problem for me as I try to follow at least 11 teams and often a few more.

So far I think I have established my top eleven as some teams seem to have disappeared but maybe they will emerge when the first football tables are published.

I am enjoying my football at the moment but WINS help that enjoyment.

My Arsenal boys beat Leicester but it was not totally convincing. What pleased me more was a totally convincing win by Brentford over Manchester United. I typed it first as Manchester Untied so I think I should use that term every time they fail.

FOUR NIL = So many of my mates were delighted by that score. Such is football.
