F.A.Cup Third Round weekend

My Top two teams join the F.A.Cup at this stage and it was positive news for both.

Arsenal travelled to Blackpool and with a young team managed to beat the Oyston Oysters by three goals. Oddly Arsenal only scored three goals meaning that they kept a clean sheet. This was evidence that Petr Cech is back in goal. He made a few good saves and slipped up (literally) once. Joe Willock scored the first two goals, his first came following a Ramsey free kick which came back off the goalposts and into his path. He threw his head at the ball and Arsenal were 1-0 up. His second came when he kept going at the far post and as the ball came through he was there to knock it into the net.
Alex Iwobi missed at least two "only the keeper to beat" opportunities but he did score when there was no keeper to beat as the ball came through to him in an offside position. Offside was not given.

Blackpool 0 Arsenal 3

Brentford beat Oxford United 1-0 with a penalty goal from Neal Maupay.

My League One and League Two picks, Southend and Exeter were not in action as their planned opponents were still in the F.A.Cup so I think I will look at how the planned opponents performed.

Southend were due to play Doncaster Rovers who are away to Preston North End at 14:00 today. I will need to check back to see how they get on.

Exeter were due to play Lincoln City and as we know now Lincoln travelled to Everton and went two goals down within 15 minutes but they fought back and scored one goal to end the match 2-1 losers.

Eastleigh travelled to Solihull Moors who could have been the team playing Arsenal until they lost to Blackpool in the second round replay. Eastleigh managed to lose 4-1 and by all accounts it was a fair result.

Weston continue their losing streak in the league. I can see me picking them as my Western League choice next season. Billericay Town came to the west coast and earned a 3-2 win as Weston remain firmly in line for relegation.

Tiverton Town travelled to Weymouth but Weymouth came out 2-1 winners which means that my team Tiverton continue what has become a really bad patch. The season started well so I hope that the necessary changes are made to turn things around.

Barnstaple did not have a match this weekend so have to wait before they can build on what was a good away draw 1-1 at Street.

Buckland Athletic are now firmly in mid table, 23 points from the top and 25 points from the bottom following a win away at Brislington by a one goal margin. Brislington 2 Buckland 3 must give the team a boost at the start of the new year. Goals from Charlie Johansen, Chris McPhee and Ryan Bush made the difference.

Exmouth Town who were at home this weekend beat Millbrook 4-1.

Elmore Eagles had no match at Level 11.
