Womens F.A.Cup

The womens F.A.Cup took place at the weekend and it has taken me some time to find the website for the results going back to the start of the season. I hope to pick up MY teams on the way.

The extra preliminary round started on September 6th 2020 with Marine Academy Plymouth beating Ottery St Marys 21-0. This kind of result is still possible in the women's F.A.Cup.

Bournemouth Sports also won 21-0 over Redlands so they need a mention as well.

There were many other double figure scores one of which took place a week later when on 13th September Mossley Hill beat Ashton United 12-0.

The PRELIMINARY ROUND took place on 20th September 2020 and one of my teams was in the draw.

Torquay United Women 4 RNAS Culdrose Ladies 0

The biggest win of the round was at Rylands who lost 14-0 to Fleetwood Town Wrens.

One week later, on 27th September, another Bournemouth team, AFC Bournemouth beat United Services Portsmouth 9-0.

In the FIRST QUALIFYING ROUND I could follow my team in their next match.

Torquay United Women 0 Portishead Town Ladies 12

F.A.Cup adventure over for another season.

In the SECOND QUALIFYING ROUND I found another of my teams.

Exeter City Ladies 2 Swindon Town Ladies 1

Some familiar names join the competition at this stage as Liverpool, Leeds and Southampton come into contention.

The THIRD QUALIFYING ROUND took place on 1st November 2020 and Exeter played again.

Exeter City Ladies 7 AEK Boco Ladies 0

A good win for my Exeter girls.

The FIRST ROUND PROPER took place on 13th December 2020.

Exeter City Ladies 1 Cheltenham Town Ladies 1

This match went to penalties and Cheltenham won 4-3.

THERE THEN FOLLOWED A BREAK FOR A LITTLE THING CALLED COVID.

On Sunday 4th April the SECOND ROUND PROPER took place. My team now is Plymouth.

Southampton FC Women 3 Plymouth Argyle Ladies 0

Short and sour F.A.Cup run this season.

The THIRD ROUND PROPER held no interest for me. Matches were played on 11th April.

My last two teams appeared at the weekend in the FOURTH ROUND PROPER.

Lewes Women 1 Southampton FC Women 2

No further progress for Lewes but I am proud of the team without a big brother club.

Arsenal Women 10 Gillingham Ladies 0

I shall try and find a match report for this one as it sounds like a comprehensive victory.

The best result of the round was by West Ham United Women. They beat Chichester & Selsey Ladies 11-0.
