Vivianne Miedema's fine goal put her in the outright lead as the Women's Super League's all-time top scorer with 56

Arsenal eased to a victory at Birmingham City in the Women's Super League.

The fourth-placed Gunners started the game nine points adrift of third-placed Manchester United in the final Champions League spot.

Two goals in three first-half minutes from Caitlin Foord put the visitors in total control.

A brilliant solo goal from Vivianne Miedema made it three before Lisa Evans wrapped up the win in injury time.

It was a second successive 4-0 win for Joe Montemurro's side, while Blues have now lost both of their past two games by the same scoreline.

With a game in hand on the Red Devils they could yet take third place if they can continue this kind of form.

They were altogether too strong for Birmingham, who are five points above bottom side Bristol City, and probably could have won by more.

As it was four goals was more than enough, with Miedema's brilliant effort the pick of the bunch.

The Netherlands striker went clear of Ellen White as the league's all-time top goalscorer with a fearsome shot from the edge of the area after controlling a throw in and showing great strength and poise to work herself into a shooting position.
