Conference Play-offs Semi-finals 2nd leg Sunday

Now I know why most bloggers do it early in the morning.

Many of my posts are triggered by the subject matter being on television at the time of my blog.

Today I have just watched Bristol Rovers beat Forest Green Rovers 2-0 to win the tie 3-0 on aggregate so they are heading for Wembley with the hope of returning to the football league after just one season at this level.

The teams are now preparing for the second match, Grimsby Town v. Eastleigh, with Grimsby leading 2-1 from the first leg. If I remember I will update you with the result of this match.

So, let's have a look at the situation at this point in time:

Barnet have earned automatic promotion to the football league.
Bristol Rovers have reached the play-off final.
Eastleigh and Grimsby are competing for that second place in the final.

LEAGUE TWO
Cheltenham and Tranmere are now Football Conference teams

Automatic Promotion to League One for Burton, Shrewsbury and Bury.
There is a certain Burr in that list of teams. Oddities like that fascinate me.

In the play-offs Wycombe take on Plymouth and Southend take on Stevenage.

LEAGUE ONE

Bristol City and Milton Keynes Dons are now Championship teams.

Preston take on Chesterfield and Swindon take on Sheffield United in the play-offs.

The four relegated teams are Notts County, Crawley, Leyton Orient and Yeovil.

CHAMPIONSHIP

Bournemouth and Watford are promoted to the Premier League.

Norwich take on Ipswich (nice!) and Middlesbrough take on Brentford in the play-offs.

Millwall, Wigan (on the way back down) and Blackpool are the relegated sides.

PREMIER LEAGUE

Chelsea top the English pyramid, with QPR and Burnley looking downwards but there is still plenty of football to play at this level.

Now to watch the Grimsby and Eastleigh contest.
